Cressi Frog PLUS

The Frog Plus’ blade is made of a special techno-polymer, high-density rubber, which makes up the foot pocket and reinforces the blade’s side rails, and a softer rubber is interspersed on the blade face to provide extra snap. The blade sits on top of the foot pocket, the bottom of the foot pocket sports a nice nonskid pattern and the heavy-duty strap has a large heel tab for grabbing onto when putting the fin on. Buckles are designed with a special safety-pin feature that prevents the female portion of the buckle from accidentally detaching from the fin post.

Performance

This fin’s blade has less flex than most of the other modern designs in this year’s group. Laying on the power stroke generated only middling speeds on the straight course and created some ankle strain. But when taken off the test track and placed in a more typical diving scenario, test divers found that the Frog Plus got the job done. Delivering respectable performance in all ergo categories, it proved to be a well-behaved fin with a pretty comfortable foot pocket and a very good nonslip pattern.

Bottom Line

The Frog Plus is a modern-looking fin with an old-school feel. Getting it cranking takes a bit of effort, but for easy kicking or cruising a reef it’s not a bad fin. And the price isn’t bad either.
